Difficulty - Easy
Time Taken - 1 hour max (from Tikona Peth)
Tikona (Vitandgad) can easily be identified from Mumbai Pune Expressway. Village nearby is called as Tikona Peth. Its Pyramidal / Triangular structure makes it clear how it could have got its name. (Tikona in marathi means "triangluar").
So on a decided day we set out to trek Tikona. We had hired a vehicle. So travel was easy to the base fort. Scenic beauty of Pawna lake on the makes it simply irrestible not to take a plunge in it :-). But we planned to savor it on our return journey.
Leaving the vehicle at the base camp, we marched towards the fort. Near the hill fort, ahead of Tikona Peth there is a small area created for parking 2 / 4 wheelers. But we din't know this earlier. Else you can save some 30 mins of walk to the base of hill. But anyway it was a winter morning so 30 mins on that road felt like a brisk morning walk.
It has some steep steps to climb. But thanks to the railings on the side it was easy (specially during the decent). Once the steps are over you ar almost to the top.
Steeeeeeep Steps !!!
Trek was pretty much easy. We reached top within some 1 hour. Awesome glimpses of mountain ranges. The entire Maval range, Lohagad fort, Visapur fort and Pawna lake is visible from here. Definetly in history this fort might have been of great strategic importance from surveillance perspective.
At top, there is a temple of Lord Shiva, a small cave and few water cisterns.
Now let the images speak.. ;-)

Great fun swimming in lake. That's the Tung Fort seen in from Pawna lake.
Tikona seen from far on our way back.
Was a very pleasant and non-tiring trek.
